I have an offer from Stripe for senior DE at $250k TC. I'm in LCOL US.

My current group has had no promos for a couple of years. It's not looking nice for the upcoming cycle. I have feedback from principals, staff, senior managers, and directors outside of my crew that I've been functioning as a staff engineer for a while now. Even without the promos, I'm still getting +10-15% / year and am considered a extremely high performer.

I've been doing cross-functional strategic gig for the last couple of years. I'm not sure that I hope to take a step back in scope for a little more money. I plan to push the recruiter on leveling, but I don't expect any movement since they mentioned Stripe won't uplevel from a company of smaller / equal size.

Current TC: $220k

Current job is also full remote.
The extent of my prep was picking two cross-functional projects to talk regarding and rehearsing them a couple of times. Since I had a ton of other obligations, the recruiter reached out to me unsolicited, and it wasn't the best time for me. So prep was way down on the list of priorities.

Perhaps take it and try the staff at Stripe, if you don’t see staff happening at the current shop. Best part is they are remote.
Mind sharing what resources helped you in prepping ?

Hi - I am also interviewing with Stripe for SDE. Wondering what is your timeline like and how long did it take for you to hear back after your final stages? Also wondering how does hiring matching gig at Stripe: is it final rounds -> hiring committee -> team matching -> offer?

My whole process was fairly fast, about a month from initial recruiter email to a pre-offer call. Final interviews to pre-offer was regarding a week. I would reach out to the recruiter for an update. Mine has been extremely helpful and accommodating.

I am curious why you're thinking regarding leaving Stripe for Stripe. It's going to be a large step back in pay and scale.

Thank you! I am presently senior at Stripe and don’t see promotion happening any time soon. I am interviewing for staff at Stripe - but haven’t entirely decided if I will join yet. My priority is remote and there are not a ton of remote options that could match me to staff in the current market.

I didn't use AI at all, but my stage was only SQL.

Is your base salary 250k or is your TC with equity 250k?
