Daily share of US engineering postings across nine families, plus emerging titles whose adoption is the object of study.
Indicator. The chart reports a stock measure of active postings by family. Posting i contributes to the count on day D iff tfirsti ≤ D and (activei ∨ tlasti ≥ D). The family share on day D is sk,D = Σ 𝟙[ŷi = k] / Σ 𝟙i,D, with the denominator restricted to the same active-on-D set.
Title taxonomy. Twelve mutually exclusive families are tracked: nine canonical (Software, Data, Analytics, Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analyst, BI, and Quant Engineering) plus three emerging (Forward Deployed, MLOps/Platform, Prompt Engineering). Family assignment is by deterministic regex over the canonical title; the job-description body is never consulted, which avoids measurement-classifier circularity.
Sample and coverage. Series window W = 198 days. As of the snapshot, n = — active US postings contribute to the index. Geographic gate is country = United States; a stricter location-confidence gate is available as an option. Postings are deduplicated by employer × normalised title × JD hash and refreshed daily.
